With just 44 friends on his MySpace page, there’s not a great deal of information readily available about Dave Graham.

A lack of profile information and blog entries give him a mysterious allure, contributing – whether intentionally or not – to dance music’s switch from the superstar DJ era to a more ‘all about the music’ notion, where more and more artists are concealing their identities by hiding behind masks, cartoon characters and pseudonyms.

Interestingly, Dave prides himself on being an ‘amateur bedroom producer’, but with the release of his new single ‘Love Always Fades’, that looks set to change.

A great deal of hype has been created around this record, with Armin van Buuren and Markus Schulz playing it on their radio shows since October last year, but 5th January finally saw the eagerly awaited release of this uplifting, progressive trance record.

This tune emits true emotion, mainly due to vocalist Cat Martin, whose lyrics – which are personal to her – make it extremely hard not to be touched by her sadness.

All versions of the track are beautifully hypnotizing, but it’s the more dreamy, less progressive remix by Michael De Kooker which is the best.

Heat descends from this second album Sampler on the Magic Island label. Featured on the ‘Magic Island -Music For Balearic People Volume 2′ compilation, as selected by Roger Shah himself, the tracks on this sampler will surely receive a warm welcome by the Balearic minded trance lovers.

Sindre Eide, who’s Norwegian name has been all over the place since his ‘Alive Again’ and ‘Poivere’, delivers his first vocal track, ‘Give It Up’. The dreamy vocals on the track come from no one less than Cat Martin, who’s voice has been in our heads ever since ‘Love Always Fades’. Progressive trance seems to be the exact right genre for her soothing sound, especially when it’s backed up by beats of one of the most promising trance talents of the moment. ‘Give It Up’ is a track that hits in deep, ripples your senses and stays there for quite a while, long enough to never be forgotten. Whether you like it in its Dub, Original or more trancy Evangelos remix.

After Meridian and Dave Costa team up with Cat Martin for the classy prog trancer ‘Empty Spaces’. Having remixed Will Holland’s Tears In The Rain, this is After Meridian’s first original work on the label.

Real warm bass and the lush melodies make this a great track for the dancefloor early on in the night.

Remixes come from Andrew Bennett and Funabashi. Bennett’s remix is typical of his; smooth, slick progressive trance, and splicing / dubbing the vocals to great effect. Funabashi up the groove and add a sparkling top line to finish it off!

This track was one of Beatport’s “must hear” trance tracks of 2010.

Discover Label Promo Text:

When it comes to progressive trance, Matt Hardwick’s “Kill The Lights” label is up there with the best of them so it is fitting that the label should end the year with one of the best vocal tracks we have heard from this genre in some time.

As with any successful recipe, it is all about the ingredients and in this case we have Magentax, a producer who currently sits right at the top of the “one to watch category” and Cat Martin, one of our favourite vocalists who also has amongst her fans, Armin Van Buuren who recently featured one of Cat’s releases on his Wii DJ Mix computer game.

As you would expect, the combination works superbly with Cat’s vocal performance cutting through Magentax’s razor sharp production and counter melodies to deliver what can only be described as a spine tingling result.

Activa and Matt Hardwick favourite Niklas Grosswald produces a blistering remix that compliments the original perfectly whilst the dub rounds everything off nicely.

I am also working on an official sample pack, due to be released on a well known sample site. I don’t want to give too much away but it’s being released as part of an already established sample library. This is great fun as it means I am writing more or less a song per day and I can experiment a bit more than I can when working on singular tracks. A few months ago I released some of my old, unused vocals as a sample pack to my producer friends, so to be working on something official so soon is a coincidence!

On to trance then – quite a few projects in the works here. Nitrous Oxide, The Madison, Jason van Wyk, Passive Progressive and Nat Monday projects are all in the early to mid stages. A commercial project with DJ Mog is also nearly complete, which I am excited about!

Next releases:

Tom8 feat Cat Martin – Deceit. This one is due out on a Dutch label that all trance fans will be familiar with. I can’t say the name yet as I am waiting on the contract arriving but it is a label that I have always wanted to sign to. Here’s a clue: I have a little goal to sign to Blackhole and Anjuna.

Activa feat Cat Martin – My Way Out. Activa’s new album “To The Point” is out in September and this track is going to feature. I’m very pleased how this one turned out, especially as the vocal was recorded in one session (around Christmas last year). I think of all the vocals I have ever done, this is the one I am most proud of. I would love for this to be released as a single with a big uplifting remix. Ha, not that anybody makes 140 anymore!

Steve Allen feat Cat Martin – Your Light. This one should be out on Steve’s label at some point, I think it’s being remixed now. It’s 135, but sounds a lot faster! Driving, big room kind of trance.

I’m sure I’ve forgotten to mention a few projects as quite simply, I tend to have a lot on at once, all at varying stages of completion. I get a vocal request every other day so it can be hard to keep track of where I’m at!

NOTE: IF ANY DUBSTEP PRODUCERS ARE READING THIS, I WOULD LOVE TO MOVE INTO THAT GENRE, SO MESSAGE ME ABOUT A COLLAB!
